History

TACE started from humble beginnings in 1996. The initial company set up was Portland Associates Consulting Engineers (PACE), quite simply because we started our venture on Portland Street, Manchester (who said M & E engineers have no flair!).

The company moved premises to South Manchester and re-launched in June 2000 trading as TACE.

The practice was established with a policy to be operated as a co-operative with none of the typical hierarchy you see in traditional businesses. This led to everyone who joined the practice feeling like they were part of something unique.

A collaborative approach has been developed within TACE which all of our engineers utilise with all our clients.

Changing the Face of M&E

“There’s no such thing as a good M&E consultant”

It’s easy to baulk at  such a comment, especially when you are an M&E consultant, and a proud one! However, throughout our years spent in private practice it’s a comment that has been overheard many times and we began to question why such a perception persisted and how it might be changed?

This journey of changing this misconception is one we’ve been on at TACE for the last 15 years and we believe we’ve made significant progress. We recognised that negative perception was out of step with reality (after all, there were many M&E consultants doing first rate work) but as an industry we clearly hadn’t portrayed our brand in an effective way.
