CIBSE North West
student of the year 2008 |
Richard Gordon of TACE (The Associates Consulting Engineers) was the recipient of the CIBSE North West student of the year award 2008. Richard is now a first year student on the BEng Hons Building Services and Sustainable Engineering degree at the University of Central Lancashire and was nominated by Stockport College. Richard in May 2008 finished his HNC at Stockport College where he achieved four out of five distinctions.
The award was presented at the CIBSE North West annual ball by Prof Geoff Levermore, (of Manchester University).
Richard’s academic progression has been down to hard work, commitment and enthusiastic determination. This has been echoed in his work achievements over the past year. Congratulations. “We are proud of Richard’s achievement and prestigous award, and that this has been recognised by others.
We are also pleased of our success of continual investment in our apprenticeship training programme for all our young employees. They are a credit to themselves and the company.

Climate Change |
Climate change is the greatest environmental challenge facing the world today.
Energy use is one main contributor.
The major consideration is the reduction of Co2 emissions from the construction of new buildings and the building in use and not simply the incorporation of renewable energy sources for the sake of its introduction.
Good design can often reduce the Co2 emissions from the site by more than 10% which identifies that good design is the key to developing low carbon energy efficient buildings.
