This scheme included the construction of a brand new, three-storey block built on the previous Walton Tower site at Oldham College.
The new block caters specifically to hair and beauty courses and houses its own commercial salon for the students to work in. Alongside this there are 17 new classrooms designated to travel and tourism, sport and uniformed public services learning.
The works at the college indicate the areas first serious investment in vocational education in recent years and formed part of a wider regeneration of Oldham Town Centre that also included the extension of the Metrolink and the provision of a new leisure centre.
In terms of design, TACE incorporated photovoltaic panels and solar hot water in order to achieve a 25% reduction in CO2 emissions.
