IKEA have teamed up with Marriot to create the new hotel brand ‘Moxy’. There are plans for four new UK hotels as part of a significant European expansion, one of which being Stratford.
The new eight storey hotel will provide 297 rooms and will be located next to Europe’s largest shopping centre and adjacent to the Olympic Park complex.
Calling on IKEA’s ingenuity the hotel consists primarily of constructed Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) which are stacked and slotted together to create rooms.
This tech-savvy hotel will feature a 24/7 self-service grab and go, ample plug-ins for personal devices and free wi-fi.
As well as being developed as an affordable design hotel the scheme has focused heavily on sustainability and is aiming to achieve LEEDs ‘platinum’ environmental performance rating.
