Sandside Lodge School, a special educational needs school in Ulverston, has relocating from its existing site on Sandside Road site to a new build with state-of-the-art facilities constructed on land at Ulverston Victoria High School in Springfield Road.
Sandside has pupils aged from 2 to 19 years with profound and multiple learning difficulties. The previous Sandside school building was been deemed “no longer fit for purpose”.
A new 80-place school has been delivered with facilities including sensory rooms and a therapy suite which will include a hydrotherapy pool, physiotherapy and rebound trampoline therapy. These specialist facilities have been provided alongside modern teaching spaces with the latest technology.
The new facility also has the capability to incorporate the county’s Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Resource Team on site, which will help the school develop into a Centre of Excellence for Autism.
